I’m happy to announce that my work will be on display in a fantastic group show at the Apex Art Gallery in the Crossroads district. This show will hang for two months. Please join us this First Friday, Dec 7th, to view this exhibit.
Apex Art Gallery
1819 Wyandotte St KCMO
A video tour thru the West Wyandotte Library Gallery. Especially for those who live out of town. For those in Kansas City, I hope that you will drop in and see this exhibit in person. There will be a reception at the library this Saturday from 2-4pm.
I get a lot of questions about my influences. My earliest influence was MN painter, Shawn McNulty. Shawn’s work is very unique. I don’t know that I’ve ever seen a painter that can bring out the under layers in his work quite like Shawn can. His work was certainly an inspiration in this piece I painted in 2010. Getting the colors from beneath to come thru just right was a serious challenge in
this piece. The middle stripe is a layer of pumice, which separates the top and bottom sections of this piece with a hard line and adds another element of texture completely. This piece really needs to be seen in person to be most appreciated. Your next chance to see this work and several others in my collection will be at the Wy West Library gallery in KCK. This is a favorite gallery of mine to show in and took over one year in waiting to show here. I hope that you will come by and see my work in person in Sept. 2012. Thank you.
Here is my exhibit from the Solstice show put on by RAW Artists, Kansas City.

This is the one of the latest paintings in the Vandenberg Series.
30×30″ acrylic & ink on canvas
My 30×30″ acrylic on canvas painting, Cronus, is moving out into the world. It is moving to the T2 and Back Alley Films studios!!! I hope to obtain a pic of it in its new home sometime soon!
Please come check out some of my work in person if you are in the Greater Kansas City area!
This will be the first showing of my new Vandenberg series. Two are on canvas and one is on birch panel. All are 24×24″ abstract pieces.
This Friday, 2010 Gallery @ 2010 Main St. in the Crossroads district, KCMO.
Hope to see you there!!
I just added a new piece to my small collection of Abstract Art. My new piece is a 24×24″ piece by Sante Fe artist, Cody Hooper. This piece is titled, Natural Melody. Natural Melody is acrylic & paper on wood panel with an oil varnish. It’s amazing in person and stops people in their tracks when they see it!
This new series of 3 24×24″ paintings will show at 2010 Gallery in The Crossroads on the next First Friday, April 6th. These three were painted specifically for this exhibit but I am working on more paintings for this series. I’m currently work on 3 30×30″ paintings as well. Please stop in next First Friday and check out the new series! 2010 Gallery is located at 2010 Main St. in KCMO. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to write me at info|at|jonfreemanart.com
L to R: Burning Sea, Kingston, and Forbes
all paintings are 30×30″ on canvas
My work will be on exhibit for a few more weeks at the KC Arts Council offices.
More exhibits to be announced soon…
I need to make room for new inventory. Continental is a 30×24″ rust/orange/cream abstract painting that would look fantastic in your home or business. Get it now for $300 with FREE shipping to the lower 48 States. Paypal accepted!
This painting and 3 others are now on exhibit at Cedar Roe Library in Roeland Park, KS. The paintings will be on display until the end of December.
This is just a bit of the paintings on display currently at The Bulldog in the Crossroads district in Kansas City. There are 20 works on display in all.
Catalina is making her way out into the world. I’m very happy to have this one go out to the first person that bought my abstract art! Thanks again Tina!
This piece will show in my next exhibit at Jones Gallery on July 1st. Forbes is different than all my other abstract works. Instead of using a gel medium or pumice for the texture in the red stripe area, I tore magazine pages into small pieces and collaged them on the canvas to create texture. I’m very happy with how this piece came out but it needs to be seen in person to be most appreciated.
Low Tide is one of my most recently completed works. Very happy with how this came out despite the fact that it is quite different from much of my other work. This one will show at the Glaspur Gallery First Friday in the Crossroads on July 1st.
This is the latest completed painting.
30×30″ Acrylic & Pumice on Canvas
Everest is the latest large abstract I’ve completed. It measures 40×40″ on canvas. Please see my Abstract Paintings section for all available pieces and prices. Thanks!
Visit the En Vogue salon in Overland Park, KS to view nine of my abstract pieces. The lobby displays two of my 30×30″ pieces, Mariposa and Burning Sea. The back wall features the new Atlantic series paintings. Please drop in and check things out!
I really like this picture of Sean Scully standing next to a couple of his works. I’d like to work on canvas that is taller than me. Not exactly practical for me though…I’d have to rent a Uhaul just to exhibit such a work!
I still have two digital abstract images available for sale. Two framed prints of another digital abstract have already sold and both clients were very happy with the look and framing on these.
The framed prints have been professionally dry mounted with a semi gloss black mat that just makes them look great! The prints are 20×20″ and the completed art with mat is 24×24″. Both prints are mounted in a great looking black, wooden gallery frame – wired and ready to hang. Each print is available for $200. Paypal accepted.
